Welcome to the support site for class sections 067 and 070 of ENGL 1301!

Here you will find resources for the class, including the syllabus, important websites, critical thinking rubric, assignment descriptions, and due dates. I will update this blog weekly to coincide with upcoming assignments, so it would be wise to check it on a regular basis.

Course at a Glance:

English 1301 helps build the foundation for each student’s academic writing career. It is designed to help all students develop their writing ability at the college level. Throughout the semester, students will complete a variety of assignments in order to practice and improve their critical thinking, writing, and reading skills. Students will write summaries of texts and visuals, evaluations of academic sources, and a rhetorical analysis of a particular text. In doing so, they will learn more about planning and organizing writing, drafting and revising to improve content and coherence, and editing and proofreading to increase their understanding of conventions of grammar and mechanics. Finally, they will develop a greater understanding of the role of writing in various university courses. (First-Year Writing xix)
